CDM Pamphlet - Print media design

This project involved the creation of a promotional poster/pamphlet for the "Creative Digital Media" course in TU Dublin as part of a design assignment.
For this project, I was given a mock brief that was written as if the CDM course in TU Dublin had come to me looking for a pamphlet design. It asked for an "engaging and dynamic design" that reflected the "progressive and disruptive nature of the course". It also specified the format for the design, it being in printed poster format (A2), double sided and capable of folding down to A4 size for convenience.
As this was a solo project, I was responsible for creating all elements of the design. This included research, planning, ideation, asset creation and layout.
Tools
- Illustrator - research, design and planning
- Photoshop - image creation and editing
- InDesign - design for print and layout
Skills
- Graphic Design - typography and image editing
- Research and Planning - examing brief, competition and identity
- Branding - logo and colour choice
- Print Media Layout - colour for print and print layouts
A big part of this project was research. Before even beginning designing, I examined the brief carefully, looked at my clients already established identity, looked at the course identity and examined competitors. By doing this, I made it clear for myself how to please the client and what direction to take the design.
While designing, I used my research to keep the visuals reminiscent of the pre-established TU Dublin and the CDM course identites, but with enough of a creative twist to make it eye catching and engaging, aswell as reflect the courses creative and technological nature.
